Last night at a special event in the General Post Office in Dublin, the An Post Irish Book Awards shortlists were announced, celebrating twenty categories.
There are six books named on the shortlist for the Irish Language category, which is for Irish Language Fiction, sponsored by Love Leabhar Gaeilge with Foras na Gaeilge.
Love Leabhar Gaeilge promotes Irish language books throughout Ireland – in bookshops, online and through resources and events for interested readers.
On this year’s Shortlist for Gradam Love Leabhar Gaeilge Leabhar Ficsin Gaeilge na Bliana are:
- ‘Geansaithe Móra’ by Gearóidín Nic Cárthaigh, published by Leabhair Comhar
- ‘Cuimhní Poircealláin & Scéalta Eile’ by Majella Ní Dhomhnaill, published by Cló Iar-Chonnacht
- ‘Mná’ by Daithí Ó Muirí, published by Cló Iar-Chonnacht
- ‘Súile Éisc agus scéalta eile’ by Michelle Nic Pháidín, published by Cló Iar-Chonnacht
- ‘Saighdiúir’ by Cathal Ó Searcaigh, published by Leabhar Breac
- ‘Flaitheas’ by Proinsias Mac a’Bhaird, published by Leabhar Breac
Public voting is open for all categories now and you can vote for your favourite books at anpostirishbookawards.ie.
The winners of each category will be announced at the An Post Irish Book Awards on the 27th November, in the Convention Centre Dublin.
