This tough and poetic thriller set under the Mediterranean sun tells the story of three comrades who grew up together on the streets of Marseilles — Ugo, Manu and Fabio — and the gypsy beauty, Lole. Close friends in their youth, they become separated by life, and are brought together again by death.
The city of Marseille itself — from the back streets of the Panier to the Canabière and down to the old harbour, and its wonderful cast of French, Italians, Spaniards and Arabs — provide a heady backdrop to this exciting novel.
The author Jean-Claude Izzo was a poet and a writer from Marseille. As well as Kíor Thuathail (Total Khéops), he has written the novels Chourmo and Solea. He died in 2000. Kíor Thuathail was televised under the titles Fabio Montale in 2001 and filmed in 2002 under the title Total Khéops.
